I'm trying to animate a model based on elapsed time (starting from when the 
model first appears).  Anyone know how to do this?  I need the time to start 
at zero when the model is first created, then tick at once per second.

I see the Spitfire smoke animation uses "/sim/time/elapsed-sec", but I don't 
see how this can work, since the number could start out at any value.  Is 
there a way to use that property, but apply an offset equal to -1 times the 
starting value?
