I would like to use the "external" option of the Flightgear Flight Simulator. I have looked at the getstart manual and IOreadme file in the documentation folder, but it is not immediately apparent to me how the external option may be used. I would like to use the option to run two concurrent copies of FG on different machines so that I can have improved performance. Furthermore, does anyone know where I can find documentation regarding the structure in which data is passed to a second copy of Flightgear that accepts the data via a network? I suppose the external flight model must populate a Flightgear property tree and send it in some sort of protocol. The AeroSim toolbox (for Matlab/Simulink) uses this functionality and it would be great to understand how this actually works!
