..I did in message id <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>.
In case it never made it thru, I repost:

Hi,

..the first time I had FG-0.7.8 (w/ plib 1.4.1 and SimGear 0.0.16)
up and running, X v4.0.3 ran away with about 97% cpu.
FG appeared rock solid at 7 frames per minute in its window.
As the same thing happened on my first FElt compile,
I threw out X v4.0.3 in favor of X v4.1.0, and rebuilt FG accordingly.
Since then, ./runfgfs dies "Cannot locate FG root directory (data)".

..my rig:
..hw: 8 MB ATI Rage IIC AGP video, 128 MB ram, amd k6-2 450 MHz, ps/2
mouse, Epox EP-MVP3G2 main board, standard small plug 105 key'ed-board.
..sw: Red Hat 7.1, on RH's own patched 2.4.3-12. ALL ERRATAS applied.
I run X at 1600x1200x24bpp @ 60 fps, which "hangs" my half toasted
Sony GDM-2038 "on its prop" and the 1/3 "yaw" is "stomped straight"
with a custom modeline. Wee bit Alzheimer, the _very_ last time
I tried vga, it took 22 hours to sync vga. 1600x1200 snaps up fine.

..FG is now built with plib 1.4.2 and SimGear 0.0.17 and:
'./configure --with-x --with-efence --with-network-olk \
--prefix=/usr/local/FlightGear --with-simgear=/usr/local
...then the 0.7.8 and extra base tarballs are dumped
into /usr/local/FlightGear.

..other configure tries included './configure --with-x --with-efence
--with-network-olk --prefix=/usr/local/FlightGear
--datadir=/usr/local/FlightGe
ar --sysconfdir=/usr/local/FlightGear/etc
--localstatedir=/usr/local/FlightGear
/var --with-simgear=/usr/local'.

..shouldn't this create FlightGear/var FlightGear/etc etc?

..everything? in place:
