Hooray,

I finally got every piece to work, good mesa, good X, acceleration.. In 
short: it runs like a dream come true :) I installed the XFree binaries that 
came from XFree itself, linked the opengl drivers to mesa and wham!.. magic.. 
It runs at about 15 frames, more or less on my 266mhz/banshee system.. I must 
note however, I haven't flown over high-scenery areas yet..
