I'm using Ubuntu-Dapper and a Intel 3.2E GHz with 2GB ram and a Nvidia 6600GT card with Flightgear-CVS and SimGear-CVS. When I run Flightgear I get any where from 50 to over 100 fps. I want to increase the level of visual quality so that I'm only getting about 20 to 30 fps. When I'm flying the ground only shows up in rectangular chunks and the view distance is very short. Example when I am flying the 737-300 the ground will show up in rectangular chunks then it will slowly go by and disappear then out shoots another chunk, very annoying.

I want the ground and sky to extend all the way to the horizon as far as you can see for a given altitude. I have ordered the 3 DVD's of the terrain. Will this solve the terrain chunking? Other than terrain chunking I love Flightgear. Thanks Nate Homier.
