Previously around May 9 2006 we had a discussion on the list regarding
compiling OpenAL and Simgear and Flightgear in the Cygwin environment and we
had determined that the OpenAL version available from openal.org had a windows
backend problem which seemed to be why the Compile Instructions were written to
use the precompiled version of Openal someone had prepared. I was attempting
to compile myself based on several comments from Vivian and others on the list
to eliminate and Openal error I was seeing in Flightgear at startup.

Vivian had been helpful and advised he had actually been able to compile it
himself once but now was unable to. He also wanted to know if the OpenAL group
intended to fix the problem and also requested I keep the list advised.

I have gotton OpenAL to compile on Cygwin and I have tested it with the ESD
sound daemon and Windows native backend in Cygwin and it seems to work. I have
also attempted to give these changes to the Openal Group but while they were
helpful working on it they don't seem to eager for the changes so this is just
to let Vivian know I have gotten it to work in case he wants the changes and
the instructions I used to get it to work. Also to clarify as he and I never
really disussed it my config is unsing the Cygwin dll and not using the Mingw
version by using the no-cygwin option.
