I was going to suggest reading the "related websites" page on the flightgear 
website but it surprisingly doesn't seem to mention FGSD - perhaps something 
that could be remedied when "someone" has the time ? :-)

Actually, I very much doubt that is the reason.

Anyway, you should perhaps read the documentation, there's a mountain of 
useful stuff there.  On the Wiki for example there's a page that looks 
ideally suited to your needs -

In particular you might like to investigate the "UFO" model placement method 
mentioned there.

You should be aware though that if you just drop things where they "look 
right" rather than placing them at the correct latitude and longitude you 
risk them looking wrong if the scenery is regenerated with more accurate 
data.
