Unlikely. Debian, but personalised kernel. And, as I said, the
existence of the joystick has been recognised, and it can be used by
other programs successfully. This would imply either something
slightly broken in FlightGear or SimGear, or that they use a different
process. Either way, the kernel _itself_ can detect the joystick.
