After about a month of relatively stick-slip free behavior I find it has

Just completed updates & builds of OSG, simgear, FG. I have high frame
rates (150 --> 175 fps) according to the HUD readout so I dont believe
its that problem.

Have the issue with both the aerostar & c172p. Happened with short
flights over pretty generic terrain (KPIT to KERI). Was using METAR
weather as I usually do. With the aerostar the simulation actually
froze at the moment of runway touchdown. Thats a first for me.

System is Linux Fedora Core 6, nVidia graphics card (GeForce 7600 GS
w/256 meg VRAM). Have Sync to VBlank set but that doesnt seem to make a
difference on this system. Using refresh rate of 85 Hz, also doesnt
seem to make a difference.

Seems something has regressed relative to about one week ago.

I'm confused, in the first part of your message you say you are getting
150-175 fps, and then at the end you are saying you are doing 85 hz. There
is a timing resolution problem in FlightGear where when you get into
insanely high frame rates, the flight dynamics don't update in real time. I
haven't dug into it myself, but I suspect it is related to how flightgear
computes the elapsed time of each frame and then uses that to determine how
many iterations of the flight dyanamics it should run.
