I just installed and tested 1.0.0 on my Gentoo amd64 box. So here are my
comments after doing some test flights.

1. The stutter problems seems to be much better and is perhaps fixed now. I
was able to make high speed rolling passes down on the deck over KSFO with
the P-51D and the scene was smoothly rendered. With 0.9.x the stuttering
when doing this was pronouced and made doing this type of flying difficult.
This is a huge improvement and if this was the only new thing in this version
I would be very happy about it.

2. I did notice that there seemed to be significant pauses when someone used
the chat feature. These pauses were perhaps two seconds long and
then "Hello" or something else would pop up on my screen. This probably
would not be noticeable at a higher altitude but close to the ground it is
very no ticable and when doing low level aerobatics or on final approach
would be very disruptive. Is there someway to disable this feature so that
it does not cause this to happen? Also shouldn't this be in a different and
lower priority thread than the main thread used by FG so that it does not
cause this to happen? In any case it seems like a regression that the long
existing stutter problem is (or appears to be) fixed and a new problem that
has similar affects is introduced at the same time.

3. The changes in the way the scenery are rendered and the additional details
around KSFO are nice. The lights on the bridges are very nice.

4. I did notice that both on the PA24-250 and the P-51D that the panels had
rendering artifacts where parts of the panel would change color for a
fraction of a second. I flew the PA24-250 at night and initially thought
that perhaps this was the strobe incorrectly showing up on part of the panel.
But it was even more noticeable during the day with the P-51D. This problem
did not happen in 0.9.10.

5. I did not notice any sound distortion issues with the two aircraft I
tested.

6. It appears that the sound is now in stereo and as you change your view
direction the location of the engine sounds moves. I did not go back and
test 0.9.x but I don't remember this happening in these older versions. The
amount of movement in the apparent position of the engine sound may not be
realistic (I think the direction of the engine is too well defined) but this
is something that can be fine tuned as this moves forward. The next step is
to make the sound work to the level of the sound capabilities of the machine
it is running on (IE. 4.1, 5.1, 7.1 if the computer supports it).
