I don't think this is true. I am running FlightGear on a Xinerama dual head system using version 169.12 of the drivers. I span Flightgear over both displays (3200x1200). I ran this setup just yesterday. There are some artifacts with the 169.x series of drivers but these have been reported on single head and Twinview systems as well. I have not tried version 171.06 with this set up yet so this may not be true with this latest set of drivers. > So I have 3 displays that I can access however > instead of just 1 single large display. > > I want to run Flightgear on this setup and make use of the 3 screens for > views, either the standard view split up or 3 different views on each > screen. > > I searched on the net, and every manual/mail suggested that 2 or more fgfs > applications needed to be run as master-slave to get that effect. This is not true. I use a single FG session to span two monitors using Xinerama using fairly recent versions of the nvidia driver. Others here have reported doing the same thing with three monitors and more than one video card (I only have a single video card). There are some limitations to this however. The main one is that no matter how many monitors you have using a single FG session will limit your horizontal field of view to 120 degrees. The main advantage of using multiple FG sessions slaved to a master session is that each session is limited to 120 degrees so you could, for example, setup three screens to cover 180 degrees total by having each session cover 60 degrees. > > John Wojnarowski however said that he was able to get it up and running > with 3 graphics cards on one P4 machine in Jan 2007. > > Here is the link to his statement : > http://www.lugod.org/mailinglists/archives/vox-tech/2007-01/msg00112.html > > I have contacted him by email as well, but was hoping someone could respond > to me faster here too. > > Is there any such possibility ? Definitely and there are a number of us here doing this. If you are happy to limit your field of view to 120 degrees an Xinerama ot Twinview setup makes this very easy as all you need to do is to give FG the correct resolution setting when you start it. For wider fields of view the setup becomes more complex. > > Any info will be appreciated. > > Thanks and Regards > Vikas Kumar ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges.
