Hi Brett, These new features are currently mainly reserved for future use in FlightGear. I currently have some code that makes use of them, but that is not committed to CVS yet. Hopefully, we'll see that traverse into FlightGear CVS in the next few weeks or so.
The Holding point type is / will be used to determine at which points aircraft need to hold before entering the runway, and can also be used to determine which point on the ground network should be used for push back (the latter should be used in combination with a "Push back" type route. The latter, push back hold point works more or less in current flightgear (cvs), but needs some refinements that I have already locally.
