Blender is very powerful but also has a steep learning curve in part because 
it UI is unusual.  For a user who wants to do a few modifications to an 
existing model getting past the Blender learning curve is a significant issue.  
 
On the other hand an experienced Blender user could probably add these 
instruments in a few minutes. 

I think there are other free ware packages that can do this that are also 
easier to learn that would be more suited to your use.
