Sorry for top posting everyone, I have both FlightGear and a program called X-Plane. You mentioned you would happily spend US$38 for FSX....you can get X-Plane 9 (www.x_plane.com), for US$39. As a default it comes with a Glider, the ASK 21.
I just had a look and it comes with a decent panel. You can also use the Plane Maker software that comes with X-Plane to either modifiy the panel or make you own relatively easily and requires no external 3d software package either....although I recommend using a 3d package at soe stage to make even more beautiful graphics :) There are other gliders available from www.x-plane.org where you will find heaps of gliders and other aircraft as well. I am in no way connected with X-Plane just a happy user since ver. 7 and a would be pilot in FlightGear :) Slainte, Andy Gorman NZCH I guess so, but then again, I have spent quite a number of hours trying to figure out how the glider ASK21 can be modified to have an instrument panel that looks like the one I used when I flew this plane for real. So far I am out of luck and if I calculate a modest hourly pay of 10 USD/hour then I am already way past the cost of FS-X Deluxe, which claims to have at least one glider in there.... It is a matter of priorities. I *have* been active in the opensource community for many years in the software development arena, but this is different (graphics manipulations and all) and now I just want to get going. :-) BosseB ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ _______________________________________________ Flightgear-users mailing list Flightgear-users@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/flightgear-users
