Ah - very nice: that's the solution. OpenSceneGraph-plugins was not installed, but almost all the other OpenSceneGraph packages. Didn't know, I needed the plugins package as well - reminded me of java-plugins for firefox etc.. zypper install OpenSceneGraph-plugins was missing. Thanks!
