I founf the problem.  It was a slightly older Simgear source that caused 
the problem.

I will add to the openSuSE 11.4 M3 headaches which are likely going to 
cause me to look at Ubuntu and dump openSuSE.

1. openSuSE has gone to KVM qnd nouveau which NVidia.run will not work 
with.  So remove them from the kernel and rebuild it.  Run mkinitrd and 
reboot after all that is needed.  It comes up and I installed 
NVIDIA-Linux-x86-260.19.04.run came up in X and called fgfs.  Up it 
comes to the end of the bootsplash when it dies.  KDE4 has decided to 
cause the audio (which used to work) to quit and no longer will 
FlightGear use the display.  Who knows it may be failing because of the 
sound hog of phonon or Dbus and/or KDE4
2. Using there kernel source.  Boot up and things which worked no longer 
work.
