I tried the SVN, but my browser popped up with a warning that I didn't have
the right protocol to access SVN or something like that.  Do you know if the
tarball can open with winzip or should I use something else?

It sounds like it. There certainly should be files there! I'd try again,
or try the tarball, or, better yet, get the SVN version.

If that all fails, I'll send you a new zip file directly.
