If you cannot find the process, probably it failed to start. Some of the flow-tools don't give a good error message when the fail on startup, and it exits without you knowing. You can do echo $? to see what the exit status of the last process was. To figure out what went wrong with your command, you can try `strace` on linux, or `ktrace` on FreeBSD. I've never used flow-fanout so I can't help much with what's wrong. Also, if this is linux, you want ps -ef, not ps -aux.
