I started working on collecting flows into a MySQL database for our company and noticed that flow-export only exported IP addresses in dotted quad format. This requires a varchar up to 15 bytes per address where using longint only requires a 4 byte int in MySQL. This should speed things up and require a lot less space (I'm currently saving 23 bytes per flow record). At any rate, if anyone else is interested in the patch, or better yet, if someone wants to rewrite it and include it into the next release that would be great. Mine is a complete hack so rewriting would be a much better idea. The patch adds another option "-l" for "long int". It can be found here, also with a link to FC4 RPMs that have the patch included:
