As an update, it's always hanging after reading the same input from any given file.
strace -f tells me this is the last read before it hangs: read(0, "\210\204\251]\37\351\376\263i\374\v\276\237\302\3763\373"..., 16384) = 4183 If you need more debug data around this, please let me know.
