I would consider as a first step to remove unusual compilers like old
borland, watcom, visualc, vcnet that are not maintained anymore by their
authors, and have limited, aging c++ impl.
I consider that we should always of course provide the ability for fltk
users to use a free c++ compiler (gcc is for me a de facto standard for
non commercial compilers) and also the most common compilers from the
industry (like ms visual, apple xcode).
a smooth increment could consist to move these old build projects to an
'unsupported' or 'deprecated' ide subdirectory.
Once the number of platforms is reasonably reduced, we could prepare in a
second increment to move to more autogenerated makefiles solutions like
CMake generalization and then be happy of maintaining only the minimum
build sources file.
Small, tested steps are usually better than a big one ;-)
