Yes, I've noticed this too while using the source code editor in fluid
(1.3.x-svn); just insert/deleting regular ascii text leaves "digital drit"
along the upper most pixels of the line.

I see this in both fltk 1.3.x-svn and fltk 1.1.x-svn, so it's not the UTF8
merge.

Looks to me like font drawing is 1 pixel higher than expected; attached 4x
closeup of the 1.1.x and 1.3.x fluid code editor screens shows the top line
of text's top pixel is clipped off the screen. (red arrows in attached
"code-editor.png" image)

Also, possibly a different problem, the rows of text are touching each
other; bottom-most pixel of each line is adjacent to the top-most pixel of
the line below it (orange arrows). Normally there's a few scanlines between
lines of text (see firefox text editor closeup at the right of the
"code-editor.png" image)
