All, (This is so far off-topic for this list... But I assume there are folk around here who will have useful suggestions.)
I've been working with a lot of UTF-8 text recently and my programming editor of choice (a hacked up Nedit) can't cope... So I have been using gedit instead, since it does display UTF-8 text correctly (and I happened to be using a gnome box.) I quite like gedit now. Bit odd in places, but mostly OK. But: gedit has this annoying feature that if you double-click a C style name with an underscore, e.g. "my_variable", it only selects one half of the name, it does not seem to understand that underscore is *not* a separator. I assume there is a config option for this somewhere, but can I find it? So, the questions are: - Can gedit be told to do the Right Thing (and how)? - What's good as an alternate UTF-8 aware programming editor? Ideally, I'd like something really light-weight - I've never been able to get into these all-encompassing IDE style things.
