I lost track of that thread, but just followed up.
I wouldn't rule out a stray pointer in your app.
I have a few large fltk apps that extensively use tooltips
and FLTK's file browsers, haven't had any of the behavior
you've described when compiling across 1.1.10 and 1.3.x
