I always assumed dotConnect provided an interface for ADO.NET things (OracleDataConnector, Oracle DataTable, etc) for those dropping and dragging them onto web/app forms--I always assumed it was just the ODP.net with extension points on top of it that emulated NH/ORM capabilities.
In either case, yeah, I'd start out by inheriting ReflectionBasedDriver and following the lead of the current drivers in NHibernate.Driver and implementing any provider-specific defaults there may be. After that and you've compiled a custom NHibernate library, you'll need to create a custom Configuration (FluentNHibernate.Cfg.Db) that uses your new dotConnect driver. I'm assuming you could use Oracle10g Dialect... but maybe not. We're a very heavy Oracle shop and the standard Oracle ODP.Net hasn't ever let us down. On a side conversation (as to not spam those uninterested), I'd love to hear what drew you to dotConnect. :) -- David R.
