Just to clarify, this portion of the markup isn't a part of the component at all. It's also not part of Sakai. I guess while Eli was working on this example of Inline Editing, he took some time to add a few nice tweaks to the normal user interface of the Section Info tool. So whatever changes we make will just make our demo a slightly bit more useful, but it's totally unrelated to Inline Edit's code.

Perhaps some of the Berkeley folks will want to promote these improvements directly to Sakai's Section Info if they are useful.

I also think this is a good idea.

The remove is after the title. The screen reader should read the title of the thing, then several attributes about it (teaching assistant, logistics, class size, etc.) then remove is the last thing in the row. I think remove item might be vague in this case. Which item -- one of the attributes?

Could we add some context by inserting the type of thing. In this case, it would be "remove section". But what the thing is could be a configuration option. Or is that a bad idea for implementation reasons?

Depending on the AT in use rows are not apparent to AT users. However, in the case that a row is not apparent, the concept of an "item" is likely also not apparent. For example, is the "Remove this item" button or checkbox at the beginning or end of the item?

I would argue that users should be expected to have reasonably recent technology, we cannot code against JAWS 4.5, but at the same time rows aren't fully apparent on OSX 10.5.6 with Voiceover and Safari 4beta, so I'm not sure what an alternative solution would be.

I would think "Remove" as a heading is fine; I would put "Remove this item" as a title for the checkbox, since rows aren't always meaningful to persons who are blind.

The UI in the generic Section Info tool is quite different. It is a checkbox in the Remove column. The user then needs to click a Remove Sections button once they have selected the sections. Still "true" is just wrong and there should be a title attribute on the checkbox. However, wondering if "Remove this row" is the right thing for it to say in this case.
I've enclosed a screen shot of the actual component.

I'd say it's worth sharing because it could be confusing to hear "true". Plus it looks really easy to fix.

Nice patch! Just a quick question about it...

While our bSpace Section Info page is just a mockup, it's based
on a real user interface in Sakai. Given this, I'm wondering if
this issue might be something we should also share upstream with
the Sakai community? It's likely a really easy change to the
  Section Info tools's markup.

          Hi,

Last week I conducted user testing with 2 JAWS users on
the bSpace implementation of Inline Edit. Here is the
wiki page with results (please note the wiki page is a
          work in progress):

A bug that came up is that when you tab to the 'remove'
button to remove a row, JAWS reads "true", which is not
          meaningful to the user.

Here is a patch that gives each button the title "remove
          this row".

          Thanks,
