Jarek,

Have you had a chance to play with the FileChannel. With reference to research 
done by KAFKA folks performance in sequential disk IO isn't bad and sometimes 
comparable to MAIN MEM in which case do we really need the virtual memory 
channel which anyways would be composed of memory channel & file channel 
without much smartness built in it.

Mike/Arvind/Hari, what your thoughts?
