Henry Flynt still lives in , I think it's, Maciunas' last place. The Emily Harvey Gallery is in the loft where Maciunas was beaten up on Broadway and in the same building but on theMercer St side there's Ay-O and Paik and somewher upstairs Simone Forti. The EHG space was also, previously Jean Dupuy's Grommet Gallery. The basement and sub-basement are really interesting too, along with Ay-O's Black hole there's also the boiler/furnace that Yoko Ono broke and the one Yoshi Wada built as well as all those nooks and crannies that just beg to be explored.
The building which consists of 537 Broadway and 110 Mercer was bought, as Meryl says, in the early days and on the whole the inhabitants are, well, getting on a bit. I fear that in the next 10 - 15 years we'll see major changes and another piece of Fluxus history will disappear. I suggest that Allen Bukoff buy the building outright and that he turfs out the dance studio allowing me to move in - that way we can ensure that groovy goings on will continue for a goodly while - what with me being young and that like!
