Not exactly. Those variable are used by the code in fluxa.ss to perform the functionality that I described or to have Fluxa sync between Dave and Alex in their joint SLUB performances. If you try to access them from a normal Fluxus environment you won't see them. I believe that the reason for the somewhat exotic implementation of timing is things like my shuffle example. If you read it again now I think you'll get how it works. That might be enough or you could choose to use those to implement BPM in any way you see fit, then make those functions available from Fluxus.
