Dave, Fluxa's compressor seems a bit odd. At the invitation of the helpfile note that you're not sure about it I went to investigate.
It does seem to do something; it's quite hard to make Fluxa clip, but after that the weirdness (Or my lack of understanding) starts. I don't think I can get it to respond to the (comp ) function, at least I don't hear a difference. I suppose it's possible that it doesn't do a thing and my soundcard just happens to overdrive in a flattering way... There is also some weirdness in the source; the compressor's source claims it's two channels but as far as I can tell it is only mono. It only gets a single Sample as a signal (and I think the Sample data-type is always mono elsewhere, even when loading stereo wave files) and there is only a single instance, unlike the EQ. However, panning with the optional third parameter to (play ) does work, which has me a bit baffled. Also odd is the "env" variable, which gets reset at the start of each block, but seems relative to the wave form so I have a gut-feeling it should persist across blocks. I'd like to try to fix this stuff, I do like the idea of a compressor and EQ on the main output. Do you have any hints on any of this? Places to start or known issues not in the comments? Yours, Kas.
