Hi Marion, MrSID is in the latest betas as a reader. I'm now using Build 1596 and $(FME_HOME)\metafile\mrsid.fmf is there - it was missing from at least one previous beta. The documentation will be coming in the next release.
We do not have any plans to write MrSID files because of licensing restrictions. As far as I can see, the MrSID beta reader works well.
