A warm "thank you" to everyone who responded to my questions about contracts
with higher ed institutions.
I received a lot of very helpful advice. The consensus among all responders
is that caution is necessary. Some work with hourly billing, others work
with project billing. Frequent scheduled reporting seems to keep
communication open and facilitates payment. However, several noted that
universities are slow payers and will seek ways to delay payment. This seems
to be the result of tight budgets.
This list continues to be a very supportive ³community² for novice
developers and consultants like myself.
