What do you mean by 'XXX'? Was it date data? Numbers? Long strings?
Normally those are things that can LOOK as though they are 'XXX' but
when you lengthen or reformat the column then the real data is
actually shown. SPSS imports from a variety of file types though
including simple tab-separated columns so you should be able to do it
in a variety of ways. I've used both Excel and tab-separated columns
exported from FileMaker and then imported them into SPSS.

Hello,
Is it possible to import Filemaker data directly into SPSS? I've
used Excel as a "middleman" before, where I save data from
Filemaker into an Excel spreadsheet, and then import the Excel
spreadsheet into SPSS. The problem, though, is that some of the
data turned into XXXXX in the Excel columns, which made the data
useless.
So, if anyone knows has had experience working with SPSS, please
let me know.
Thank you,
Alison
