Hi John,
FM 6 and earlier had built-in font rendering;
FM 7 and later use the Mac's OS-level font rendering.
You and your client have discovered which works better, but there you
have it. Nothing can be done, except hope your client acclimates
quickly. Shine the bright light of FMP 8.5 features in their eyes,
and maybe they won't notice the fuzzy fonts so much.

We are in the process on upgrading from 6 to 8.5 (All Mac OS X
office, using FM Server 8) and we can't seem to get the fonts or,
for that matter, the lines to be crisp and clear as they were in
6. We have tried using different fonts and different sizes and
just are not happy with any of our choices. Is there ANYthing we
can do to clear things up....make it look like it use to.
Thanks for any advice,
John
