People,

I have a family ledger database I'm writing using Filemaker 6 for Mac.

The database contains a field called "Record Number" that stores a serial
number for
each record. I have a layout called "List" in which I typically will see many
records
displayed all at the same time. I want to be able to select one of the records
displayed in
the "List" layout, and activate a script that will find and display just that
one selected
record in the same "List" layout.

I know such a script should be fairly easy to write, but as a Filemaker
beginner, I'm
having a heck of a time doing so. My idea was to select and copy the contents
of "Record
Number," then create a find request, paste the copied record number into
"Record
Number," then execute the find request. But the script doesn't work, the way
I'm doing it,
so far. I've tried all I can think of, and I'm kind of stuck, at this point.

Can anyone assist me in writing such a script -- that will actually work?

You all have been very helpful to me in the past, as I learn to write basic
FMPro
databases. I'd appreciate very much your help on this particular problem, also.

Thanks very much, in advance.
