You know that old trick about dropping an Excel file on top of the
FMP icon and letting the wondrous software automatically do the
conversion for you? I just tried it with a super-simple spreadsheet
done up with Apple's spreadsheet program, called "Numbers" (part of
the iWork package). Result: Garbage.
Next I tried using the "Export" feature of Numbers to create an XLS
file. Again with the dragging onto the FMP icon. This time it snarked
at me: "No fields are defined in the data source." I'm not sure what
to make of that. I used icExcel to peek inside the newly created
file, and it seemed just fine.
Then I tried "Export" using the CSV (comma-separated values) option.
Again with dragging onto the icon. This time it opened splendidly in
FMP.
