I wonder if it is something to do with the Commit Records step - but why should any given script step work differently on different machines?.
You know Rowland this may be completely coincidence but I recently had a curious problem with one machine seemingly not setting the UserName correctly. I reinstalled FileMaker on that machine and the problem disappeared. A bug, I wonder?
