Use a number field. Set it to a value list with one value: "1".
A trick recently taught me by the great Kent Searight is to set an
auto-enter calc on that field like so:
GetAsBoolean ( fieldName )
Set it to always replace and even work if empty.
That will limit its content to a 1 or a 0. The nice thing about this
is that it will force an empty field to 0 (zero).
That allows you to count on it for a relationship in both states.
Neat.
If GetAsBoolean is not in 8.5 (that was soooo twenty minutes ago!),
you won't get to do the auto-enter calc, but the rest will still work
great for the True state.

What do most developers do for a field that should be Yes/No, since
there is no Boolean data type?
