I had a similar problem with an intranet system with IWP using
Filemaker Server 9.
This error caused IWP to take up all the server operating memory and
the intranet failed to function.
I finally traced the problem to a portal on one layout that was
attempting
to sort records based on a portal field that was drawn from the wrong
relationship
(same root table but a different relationship to it).
It is possible that this incorrectly set sort field was not available
under
the permissions set for guest users accessing the intranet via iwp,
though my recollection is a little foggy and I am not positive that
was the case.
I do know that after I discovered the incorrect sort setting, and
corrected
it, we no longer got the authentication failed messages and the
failures of
our intranet system stopped.

Anyone know what causes this? How to stop this from happening?
A client's FileMaker 9 Server keeps sending out these messages:
FileMaker Server 9.0.3.326 on HDNAME reported the following event:
2009-01-29 16:30:34.717 -0800 Warning 661
HDNAME Client "xxxx" authentication failed on database
"DBNAME.fp7" using "fmclientpreferencesusername [fmapp]".
Client is using FileMaker client Pro 9.0v3
The messages are being triggered by them by logging in, however,
they are successfully logging in so I am not exactly sure why we
these emails are being sent out.
Thanks in advance.
