Is there a function, either FMPro native or from a plugin, that will give me the size of a folder? The Troi File Plugin will return the size of a file, and the SMTPit plugin will do the same, but neither evidently will return a folder size. Here's the details:
FMPro 9/10
I have a folder of images that a photographer has shot. Typically it will be full of Canon raw files (.cr2) and a subfolder of jpeg thumbnails. The folder needs to be burned to CD (yes CD, and later backed up to server HD but the CD's are the first line of backup defense) Since we started this, the raw file size has grown with the cameras, so it normally takes more than one disk to backup Currently, the photographer must separate the files into multiple folders (xxx-01, xxx-02, etc) with each folder 700MB or less to fit on the cd Then they enter the number of folders, hence the number of cd's, into a field and a verification script is run in FMP to make sure everything is in order.

What I'd like is to have FMPro look at one big folder, get the size and divide by 700MB to determine the number of CD's, rounding up, and enter that number in the CD Quantity field. THEN the photographer can drag the entire folder to Toast and let it automatically split the folder into the proper number of disks.

I CAN just have the photographer drag to Toast and then enter the number of CD's it creates, but I'd like to automate the process, therefore reducing the user error factor.

Can this be done? I'd rather not have to purchase another plugin, I own Troi File and SMTPit plugins now, but they don't appear to be the solution unless I go with totaling the individual files inside the folder.... not fun!

Thanks

Rick
