Hi Stacyann,

You should be able to set up a layout that displays the container fields and then right click on the field and select export field contents. Select the Automatically Open file check box. This will export the file and open it for you.

You can script this including temporary path and file name and turn the Container field into a button. Then clicking on the button will export the field contents and open them for you.

These suggestions are using the built in functionality in FM 9. If you need more then this I understand that SuperContainer by 360 Works makes this very easy and dose a great job. I have to admit them I am using other's recommendations here. I haven't had the opportunity to implement a project with SuperContainer.

Hope this helps

Hi Everyone,

I’m using filemaker Pro9 on a PC
I created 3 container fields to store separate docs… typically pdf, word docs, excel, powerpt

The files were inserted but then I was unable to open from within the record. Any suggestions?
