Why not create a Find Script with the Go to Field, attach the script to
an icon that is placed on the layout?

FM remembers the last field entered in Find.

I have a database of news media reps. No matter how I set the TAB ORDER
& the FIELD BEHAVIOR, a FiND is cumbersome.

After pressing FIND, I key-in the data and press ENTER--and I should get
my answer. ENTER just takes it to the next field in the TAB ORDER again
and again. Pressing ENTER should initiate the FIND, but I can't seem to
set FIELD BEHAVIOR correctly. Am I alone in this problem?

I know pressing the blue FIND button on the left will do it but I would
rather not use the mouse any more than I have to.

Thanks, Melissa

I guess I should expand on my rather short answer. And I meant to type
"Enter Key", not just Enter. Hope you found it.

There is an inherent problem with the simple solution I suggested. That
is, if you have an expanded text field on your layout; one where your
end-user can add lengthy prose. In such a field it is wise to uncheck
the options to advance to the next field using the Tab and Return keys
because the user may well want to use tabs and returns within the text.
This leaves only the Enter key as a way to get out of the field without
resorting to the mouse. If that is the case then you can't uncheck the
Enter key. But there is a larger issue.

FMP's built-in Find mode is great if you are building a solution for
yourself and no one else. However, if you are building a solution for
broader and less casual use, the end-user must never have access to Find
mode (not to mention a lot of other things) as this is really a
developer tool that should be kept hidden from end-users.

If you are building a solution for use by someone else, or multiple
users then you should reconsider using FInd altogether. Have a look at
our White Paper for FMP novices on the downloads page of our web site.
It's free, but over 100 pages so may take a few minutes to download.
