I have a large FileMaker 8.5 and 9, with FileMaker Server running on a
Windows system with 25 to 30 users, it a solid, stable and detailed system,
managing all sorts of data and information, a key part is used for customer
relations, reservations and bookings, so it has many related tables.

The end users now want to explore a web based on-line reservations system,
either directly from the FileMaker system (via server web functions,
depending on security issues) or via their website with additional secure
pages to pass the data back and forth into FileMaker (if this is possible.)

The FileMaker system will need to supply all the data for the available
reservations (if it's not handling it directly), then lettings the web
customer, enter a secure area (so will need web accounts), to then make a
reservation, and this data be updated directly in the FileMaker system. The
customer will need a confirmation generated if the reservation was
successful etc.

Has anyone attempted something similar with FileMaker before (either
directly or by feeding data back and forth to a website), would like some
advice, pitfalls and ideas of how to proceed before we come up with a set of
recommendations.

Many thanks and a belated happy new year!

Jonathan.
