Sorry for the cross post, but I wanted to follow up on a previous posting I made regarding error problems I was encountering with the Troi File plugin when trying to modify the metadata on a jpeg that was on a shared server. I kept getting an error $$-5000, but I could run the same action on a local file and it worked perfectly. After receiving several good suggestions that, unfortunately, did not fix the problem, I contacted Troi support to see if they had a fix. After answering a couple of questions on my particular server setup, they concluded that the problem was a permission issue on the server... the plugin wanted to use a temp file since I was trying to manipulate the same file, rather than creating a copy of the file. The server just would not allow the temp file to be created. The quick fix was to set the metadata to a copy of the file by renaming it slightly during the SetMetatdata command, then renaming again to the original file name, which would in effect create a copy, then replace the original with the copy. That worked great and I was happy!

But then, I got another email from Troi with a link to an updated plugin that they said should fix the original temp file problem and allow me to go back to the original script, just set the metadata on the same source and location, thus changing just one file. Gave it a try and it worked on the first attempt, which saved me several lines of script code, along with all the error checking to make sure that everything worked correctly and I didn't accidently leave a temporarily renamed file on the server if somehow something went wrong in the quick fix solution.

Bottom line, I had a problem with the product and they pretty much did a custom fix for me in less than a week, and MOST of that delay was on me getting them the extra info the requested. I just thought it was important to point out how good their support is!
