As I said above, I don't have a "Perform sub-scripts" box. If it is supposed to be there, how do I get it?

If I Perform this structure, it works:
Set up a layout so it looks like what the File A, Script 1 from the above example would accomplish then Perform the following:
      File A, Script 2 calls
              File B, Script 5  (This now executes)

Therefore permissions have nothing to do with the problem.

This description bears all the signs of the "Perform sub-scripts" box being unchecked in File A, Script 1. Have you verified that it is indeed checked there?
