Thank you, Rick, for your suggestion. Unfortunately I'm not making progress.

When I enter 1/1/2011...10/3/2011 as a find criterion Filemaker changes it to

*/1/2011 */1/2011 */*/2011...*/10/2011 */3/2011 */*/2011

and tells me "No records match this find criterion."

My regional OS settings specify a d/m/y date format and Filemaker recognizes this. However, changing this doesn't seem to help.

When I look at the discussion around Terry Teitelbaum's post on "Re: Find Not Working on Some Fields" I have to say that I also find some of Filemaker's behaviour on Finds quite inexplicable. In my case I have worked around the problem by created a calculated field for year and one for month; I can then search on these. However, one would like to know why FMP doesn't behave as specified - is it something in the design of the database, or is there a bug that manifests itself in certain circumstances or what?

Bruce,

You need to use three periods (...) to search date ranges. So to find
everything up to April 14, your search string would be ...4/14/11. Same with a
between range, like 4/2...4/10/11. Pretty cool now too, you can search the
month of May just by 5/2011, ranges 3/2011...5/2011, and even a year, just 2011.

I have a real puzzle (for me anyway!).

I can find a range of dates by entering */{1..3}/2011 in the
date field (in find mode), but if I enter anything with a
greater than or less than operator (like<4/14/2011) FMP
tells me that the find criteria are invalid.

Any help would be appreciated.

(I'm using FMPA 11 on Windows 7)
