FileMaker Pro is indeed a powerful and flexible tool. The thing that really made it easy, of course, was that you were starting with well formatted, regular text to begin with (each field having only a sinsgle comma and single hyphen, in clearly predictable locations), so it's valuable (if possible) to have standardizaton and consistency right from the outset. It's ideal if you can always do this, but in my experience it's damn nigh impossible to rely on it from your clients, so you got lucky this time around. Congratulations on your success!
