Not sure if this is what's going wrong, Charles, but the first thing that leapt 
out at me was that the "keep records in sorted order" option was turned on. I 
find this to be a general nuisance, and it may or may not have something to do 
with the problem you're encountering, depending on what you sorted by. Try it 
again with that option turned off and see what happens.
