Hi all. Finally I got the answer. gdm (the session manager I use) runs a script before entering a session, which is located in:
/etc/gdm/PreSession/Default In my box, the script runs sessreg with no "utmp". So I have changed it to: /usr/bin/X11/sessreg -a -w /var/log/wtmp -u /var/run/utmp -l $DISPLAY $USER And now gkrellm, finger, w and who shows the user connected. Thanks to all. > Hi all. > > I am worried about something I noticed this week.
