I use fakeidentd to send a standardized reply to all requests:

A few years ago I found that some flavors of Unix (specifically some HP-UX
versions) wouldn't exchange mail with a server that did not respond to an
ident request.  I came across fakeidentd in my search for a solution.
Works like a charm.
